Modelling Thermoplastic Filaments’ Sintering by Level Set Method

The viscous sintering kinetics of thermoplastic polymers is generally studied by monitoring the evolution bonding neck between two particles (spherical, or cylindrical) and using a refined Frenkel-Eshelby’s model. Recently, we showed that entire contour filaments could be modelled lemniscates as figure-eight shape curves to assess abilities 3D-printable plasticized biopolymer. Using COMSOL Multiphysics ® software, set up 2D finite element model filaments’ with flow front tracking level method. This leads contrasted images phases, i.e. air polymer, allowing prediction interface corresponding contour. An image analysis procedure applied simulated sequences ones acquired during trials extruded based on zein, corn protein 20w% glycerol. method assessment coordinates sintered edge pixels their fitting Booth.
